Both of my children insist that these are the most comfortable shoes that they own. They do seem to be cut quite low below the ankle bones and neither of them has ever developed any blisters from rubbing which we have had from cheaper imitations which are much stiffer.
The sole is quite thick and the inside fabric has never become dislodged or tatty which I think shows that they are made to a good standard. My daughter wore hers a lot even during the icy weather and found that they seemed to grip very well although the distinctive diamond sole pattern is quite worn on her shoes now.
Thankfully these shoes also seem to be reasonably good at preventing the dreaded sneaker-smell. I am not sure if it is the high cotton content that gives the All-stars this property but I am certainly pleased about it. I have been known to put them through the washing machine when they have got very dirty which unfortunately does cause fading but doesn't seem to cause any shrinkage.
Although I really cannot see the appeal of these shoes I am sure it is just a generation thing. Both of my children love theirs and wear them happily. They seem to be comfortable and for a canvas shoe they are certainly hardwearing and so I would have to recommend them.
