Coming off Ste Wing’s debut appearance in Hypebeast’s Sole Mates series where he highlighted the Birkenstock Boston, Hypebeast delves deeper into the tastemaker’s independent tattoo business and other creative ventures, exploring the studio space that his network calls home.
In the latest edition of Hypebeast Visits, we land in the midst of colliding creative energy at North Block Tattoo studio, where the group are directing their focus to Birkenstock in a new lookbook. From the delicately strapped Zurich to the slipper-style Naples, the various models are placed in front of the camera against the ultra-modern Mancunian stylings. The visuals aim to pay homage to the northern city that has brought this eclectic group together.
Tucked away in the red-bricked landscape of Manchester’s Ancoats neighborhood, Wing’s studio is a contemporary designed space behind an unassuming industrial-style facade. On a typical gray day in North England, his team of artists, creative directors and stylists make their way to the studio, where they spend hours producing cutting-edge ideas for their book of clients.
A process that’s rooted in collaboration is fundamental to the success of Wing’s community. Whilst some design or style, others find themselves constantly on their feet tattooing clients. It makes sense then why Birkenstock’s clog-like shoes – with a distinctive combination of style and comfort – are the footwear of choice for this on-the-go family of creatives.
In his typical socks and Kyoto sandal pairing, Wing reflects on his hometown saying, “I’ve always said that Manchester is the place where it can happen. The people around you will always champion you, in any idea you’ve got.” Though some members haven’t always lived in Manchester, artist Christopher says, “He’s bridging the gap and bringing us all together.”
Take a closer look at how Birkenstock intertwines with the journey of this close-knit group in the new episode of Hypebeast Visits above. Explore the Birkenstock models on the brand’s website now.
..........Read full articleFear of God is running plays right now. On the heels of announcing that Fear of God ESSENTIALS will collaborate with Union LA, we caught sight of new Fear of God x Birkenstock slides live at MR PORTER.
Hitting shelves on February 22, the new wool-felt version of the Fear of God x Birkenstock sandals is already proving to match the popularity of the initial suede release. Much like the first release — and every Fear of God release — the latest drop is available in a combination of muted, greyscale palettes.
Ash Mélange and Cement Mélange wool-felt form the uppers of the latest Fear of God x Birkenstock slides, complementing a light gum outsole and suede folded footbed. Birkenstock text branding to the inside of the shoe constitutes the only detailing.
Birkenstocks have become regular everyday footwear for the style-conscious set over the past few years, and while the classic suede Bostons might be nearing saturation, collaborations like Fear of God x Birkenstock provide the perfect opportunity to stand out. We loved the suede version, but the latest wool-felt drop cements this original style as the dream pair for the transitional weather.
..........Read full articleJerry Lorenzo was quick to hop on the sandals trend back in 2021 when he introduced his Fear of God California mule silhouette, and in 2023 he further contributed to the movement with the release of his own Birkenstock “Loz Feliz” collaboration. The slip-on model was first delivered to the public in January in a set of suede-covered styles, and now it has been modified with wool felt materials for its new batch of colorways.
The easy-on-easy-off offering was put together to call out Birkenstock‘s functional heritage and blend it with Fear of God‘s timeless and minimalistic design language. Uppers are built out with a monolithic strap closure that are devised with wool felt for a soft touch, and this rides above cork-latex footbeds that are topped off with tonal suede. An oval-shaped, debossed footbed pod hosts solid black Fear of God branding while Birkenstock is called out towards the arch of the foot. For this second batch, these Loz Feliz pairs will come in versatile “Cement Melange” and “Ash Melange” colorways and will release in sizes for adults and kids.
Interested in adding these to your rotation? The wool felt Fear of God x Birkenstock “Loz Feliz” range is slated to drop exclusively at Fearofgod.com, 1774.com and select Birkenstock retail locations on February 22 and through select global retailers on February 24. Adult pairs are priced at $395 USD while the kid’s pairs will run you $245 USD.

..........Read full articleLet's cut right to the chase: the Birkenstock Boston clog is officially back in stock. The German brand's steady rise to the top of the footwear charts has been in the works for about a decade now, and the dwindling supply of its best-selling model is proof.
Over a few short years, Birkenstock went from reviled to revered, churning out hit collaborations with a who's who of insider-y fashion labels, including Fear of God, Jil Sander, Rick Owens, and Stüssy. To no one's surprise, the much-hyped link-ups reliably sold out, but it was only recently that TikTok did its thing, transforming the brand's flagship silhouette—the taupe suede Boston clog—into a bona fide viral sensation.
These days, Birkenstock's website feels more like an episode of menswear Survivor, with every restock pitting anxious customers against each other in a frantic click-off to the checkout page. For months, restocks were reliably followed by brusque 'sold out' notifications. Crestfallen customers took to Reddit, where luckier community members benevolently alerted each other to squirreled away inventory. Meanwhile, resellers on sites like eBay and Grailed made out like bandits marking up prices by nearly double the retail value—sometimes much more.
..........Read full articleAnd Just Like That, Carrie Bradshaw has traded in her Manolo Blahnik heels for the comfortable clog — albeit a designer pair.
Spotted on the streets of New York City, on set for season two of the Sex and the City reboot, Sarah Jessica Parker appears to have unveiled an upcoming collaboration that sees Gucci join forces with Birkenstock. Paparazzi photos have showcased a pair of monogrammed Gucci slip-ons, highlighted by the Birkenstock Boston silhouette. Known to make major fashion statements as her character Carrie Bradshaw, SJP continues to surprise fans with a different outfit rendition, veering off from her traditional glamorous wardrobe.
For the scene, Carrie Bradshaw is spotted walking down the streets of New York with her close friend Miranda Hobbes, played by Cynthia Nixon. For the occasion, SJP wears a tie-dye shirt layered with a colorful cardigan and robe, paired with a slim-fit pair of grey sweatpants. While one would think that the ensemble would be the greatest shock of all, it is the Gucci x Birkenstock collaboration that catches most fashion aficionados’ eyes. This is not the first time Birkenstock has collaborated with a luxury brand, having revealed a Dior collaboration and with a Bradshaw favorite, Manolo Blahnik. This would mark the first time a Kering brand has collaborated with Birkenstock. While the pairing appears to be uncharacteristic of Carrie, she is right on trend, as the Birkenstock Bostons were one of the most highly demanded shoes in 2021 and 2022.
No further information regarding if the clog will be available for a wider release has been made available. It is uncertain if these clogs are a Carrie Bradshaw exclusive or if they will soon be released.
..........Read full articleOne thing about Well+Good is, we are proudly pro Birkenstock. The German footwear brand makes some of our most beloved (and fine, maybe polarizing) shoes, from its podiatrist-approved clogs to its versatile summer sandals—even the queen of Genovia herself, Anne Hathaway, is a fan. Between the craftsmanship, the comfortable fit (that gets even better and better with time), and the laid back aesthetic that goes with pretty much anything, Birkenstocks hit every time. And if you love them as much as we do, then you probably already know that Birkenstock rarely goes on sale. Which is all the more reason to act quickly when you find a discounted pair.
To the surprise and delight of Birkenstock lovers everywhere, Anthropologie is having a 25-percent off sale on select styles through February 28. Not to be dramatic, but this is a huge deal, which is why the sizes are flying off internet shelves fast. So if you’ve ever considered buying a pair of Birkenstocks for yourself, or are itching to add a new, fashion-forward style to your collection, now’s the time. Read on for the styles at the top of our wish-list.
..........Read full articleGucci has built a reputation for putting out excellent collaborations. It knows what the people want. Alessandro Michele's reign at the Florentine brand saw the label send a limited edition Adidas collection down the catwalk. There was that The North Face collaboration. Mega stuff for campers, editors and hypebeasts alike. Then there was a collection with Harry Styles. Because, who wouldn't want to dress like the Grammy Award-winning ‘As It Was’ singer?
Now, it looks like Gucci has got another collab on the way. And it's gonna be a goodie. Maybe the best yet. Definitely one for people who like comfort to fawn over. Yep, it's looking very likely that Gucci has a Birkenstock collaboration on the way.
The prospective collaboration has been teased by none other than Sarah Jessica Parker. The actor is currently filming scenes for the upcoming second series of And Just Like That and she was snapped by paparazzi in a pair of never-before-seen Gucci Birks. A touch! Hardly surprising though. Both SJP and her on-screen journo counterpart are respected as some of the most in-the-know fashionistas out there. Both SJP and Carrie get fashion. And they get it first, seemingly.
The collaboration (disclaimer: it hasn't been announced by either party yet) takes the form of Birkenstock's signature Boston clog, and comes with an all-over GG monogram print. Sure, not entirely inventive, but you just know that it's going to fly off shelves.
It wouldn't be the first time Birkenstock has tapped a luxury brand. In 2021 it partnered with Dior on a collection of sling-backs and mules. The German brand has also worked with Daniel Arsham on a line of limited edition footwear, while Valentino slapped its VLTN logo onto a pair of black leather sandals. Manolo Blahnik dipped its toe in the Birkenstock collab cauldron, while Proenza Schouler got its moment two years ago.
Meanwhile, for Gucci, it's a marketing move. Birkenstock's Boston clog, as revealed by global search platform Lyst, was one of the hottest products in the world in the final quarter of 2022. A Gucci take on the slip-ons? Mega stuff!
